In a groundbreaking advancement in modern warfare, Turkey has officially unveiled the world’s first laser-equipped battle tank designed specifically to jam and destroy drones at close range. The tank, codenamed “TULGAR”, was developed by Turkish defense company ASELSAN in collaboration with the Turkish Armed Forces.
Armed with high-energy laser systems and advanced electronic warfare capabilities, the TULGAR can detect, track, and neutralize multiple drone threats simultaneously—either by jamming their control signals or by physically burning through their hulls with focused laser beams.
Defense experts describe the technology as a game-changer in counter-drone operations. As swarm drone threats become increasingly common in modern conflict zones, laser-based solutions offer a clean, precise, and cost-effective answer to traditional anti-air weaponry.
Speaking at the launch event, Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Demir said, “This innovation puts Turkey at the forefront of next-generation battlefield defense. The TULGAR is not just a tank, but a symbol of technological sovereignty.”
The TULGAR has already undergone successful field tests and is expected to be deployed along strategic border regions and critical infrastructure zones.
