Shri Young Liu, Chairman and CEO of Taiwan-based tech giant Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. Ltd. (Foxconn), has been conferred the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian award, in the field of Trade & Industry. This prestigious recognition celebrates his pivotal role in bolstering India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem and fostering Indo-Taiwan business collaboration.
As the head of Foxconn, one of the world’s largest electronics contract manufacturers, Shri Young Liu has been instrumental in expanding Foxconn’s footprint in India, creating thousands of jobs and significantly contributing to the Make in India initiative.
Under his leadership, Foxconn has partnered with Indian states to set up large-scale manufacturing units for smartphones, semiconductors, and electric vehicles — boosting India’s ambition to become a global manufacturing hub.
Shri Liu has also played a critical role in deepening India–Taiwan industrial relations, advocating for technology transfer, skill development, and sustainable supply chains. His strategic vision has positioned India as a key partner in the global electronics supply chain and helped elevate Taiwan’s profile as a collaborator in India’s economic growth.
The Padma Bhushan is a symbol of India’s gratitude for Shri Young Liu’s commitment to industrial excellence, employment generation, and fostering global cooperation.
