In a groundbreaking achievement that has inspired youth across the nation, 17-year-old Risheek Kumar from Jammu & Kashmir has been conferred the prestigious Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2025 in the Innovation category for launching Kashmir’s first-ever cybersecurity company.
At an age when most teenagers are still exploring career paths, Risheek has already built a tech enterprise that addresses growing concerns around cyber threats, digital privacy, and data protection—issues especially crucial in today’s hyperconnected world.
Named “CyberFort Kashmir,” the company offers end-to-end cybersecurity solutions to local businesses, institutions, and individuals. What makes the initiative even more remarkable is that Risheek built the company from the ground up, using self-taught coding skills and a passion for ethical hacking.
“When I noticed the rise in phishing attacks and online fraud in Kashmir, I realized there was no dedicated local cybersecurity solution,” Risheek shared. “That’s when I decided to be the change.”
CyberFort Kashmir has already served over 50 clients, offering services like network auditing, data encryption, and real-time threat monitoring—making Risheek one of the youngest tech entrepreneurs in the region.
The award was presented by the President of India at a special ceremony in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also applauded Risheek’s efforts, calling him “a symbol of India’s digital future.”
The Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar is the country’s highest civilian award for children under 18, recognizing outstanding achievements in innovation, bravery, scholastic excellence, social service, arts, culture, and sports.
Risheek Kumar’s journey is a shining example of how innovation, determination, and a desire to solve real-world problems can create meaningful impact—no matter your age or where you come from.
As Kashmir steps further into the digital age, this young innovator is already leading the charge—proving that the future of cybersecurity in India may well be written from the heart of the Himalayas.
