Shares of Lucid Group Inc. (NASDAQ: LCID) surged 10% after the luxury electric vehicle maker announced that its Lucid Air Grand Touring model has officially set a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the longest journey by an electric vehicle on a single charge.
The Lucid Air Grand Touring completed a remarkable 1,205-kilometer (approximately 749 miles) drive between St. Moritz, Switzerland, and Munich, Germany, without recharging even once. This stunning performance surpassed the previous record of 1,045 kilometers by a margin of 160 kilometers, setting a new global benchmark in EV efficiency and range.
“This range record represents a significant milestone – it’s yet another clear demonstration of the technological edge that defines Lucid,” said Eric Bach, Senior Vice President of Product and Chief Engineer at Lucid.
The record-setting Air Grand Touring boasts:
- A WLTP range of 960 km
- An energy consumption rate of just 13.5 kWh/100 km
- A peak output of 831 PS (819 horsepower)
- Top speed of 270 km/h
- Ultra-fast charging that adds 400 km of range in just 16 minutes
Lucid’s engineering achievement reinforces its status as a leader in the EV industry, showcasing not only endurance but also cutting-edge performance and charging efficiency.
This is the second GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for Lucid achieved in collaboration with Umit Sabanci, a London-based entrepreneur. In 2024, Sabanci made headlines by driving a Lucid Air Grand Touring across nine countries on a single charge, setting the record for most countries visited in a production battery electric vehicle without recharging.
Following the announcement, Lucid’s stock (LCID) jumped 10% in trading, reflecting investor enthusiasm over the company’s innovation and ability to push the boundaries of EV technology.
With this record-breaking drive, Lucid redefines the future of electric mobility, setting new expectations for range, efficiency, and real-world performance. The company continues to position itself as a pioneer in sustainable luxury transportation, proving once again that range anxiety may soon be a thing of the past.
