India’s Longest Cantilever Glass Bridge Set to Open in Vizag by July-End

Adventure seekers and tourists have reason to celebrate as India’s longest cantilever glass bridge is set to open to the public by the end of July in the scenic city of Visakhapatnam (Vizag).

The much-anticipated structure, which will offer breathtaking views of the Bay of Bengal and the Eastern Ghats, is 50 meters long and designed to hold up to 40 people at a time.

Currently, 70% of the construction work has been completed, with finishing touches and safety testing scheduled over the next few weeks. The bridge is being built using high-strength, transparent glass panels anchored on a cantilever frame extending over a steep valley, offering a thrilling experience similar to iconic glass bridges in China and Dubai.

The bridge is part of Vizag’s broader tourism development initiative, aimed at making the city a hub for eco-adventure and leisure travel in southern India.

  • Situated near the popular Kailasagiri Hills or Tenneti Park (final location pending official update)
  • Offers panoramic views of the coast, forested hills, and city skyline
  • Designed to provide a safe yet adrenaline-pumping experience for visitors of all ages
  • Features LED lighting for night-time visits and photo ops

A senior official from the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department said:

“This bridge will be a major attraction not just for Vizag, but for all of India. It combines world-class engineering with natural beauty. We expect a huge boost in tourism once it opens.”

Once inaugurated, this glass bridge will become a landmark attraction in South India, symbolizing the state’s push towards modern tourism infrastructure while enhancing the natural appeal of Vizag.
