“Gujarat Sets Green Record: 58,200 Seedballs Made by 1,180 Participants in One Day”

In a landmark effort to promote afforestation and environmental conservation, Samajik Vanikaran Van Vibhag, Surat (Range Bardoli) and JCI Bardoli, Surat set a new record for the maximum number of seedballs made simultaneously by individuals.

On the morning of May 18, 2025, an enthusiastic group of 1,180 participants came together in Surat and collectively crafted a staggering 58,200 seedballs in a short span of time. The eco-friendly seedballs were made using a sustainable mix of mud, compost, and seeds from various indigenous tree species, designed to encourage reforestation and biodiversity across degraded landscapes.

The record-breaking event was officially confirmed on the same day and serves as a shining example of community-driven environmental action. Organizers and participants alike emphasized the urgent need to adopt greener practices, restore ecosystems, and involve citizens—especially the youth—in climate-positive activities.

This initiative not only set a national benchmark but also conveyed a powerful message on the role of collective action in combating deforestation and climate change.
