The world of illusion is converging on Turin, Italy, as the city prepares to host the highly anticipated FISM World Championship of Magic 2025. This triennial event, organized by the International Federation of Magic Societies (FISM) since its founding in 1948, stands as the largest international competition of its kind, attracting over 100 of the globe’s most talented magicians.
Scheduled to run from July 14-19, 2025, the championship will see entrants vying for top honors across a diverse range of “Best…” categories, including Manipulation, Card Magic, Parlour Magic, Mentalism, and Comedy. The ultimate prize, however, remains the coveted Grand Prix, a testament to overall magical excellence.
FISM, an alliance representing over 70,000 magicians from 97 national and international magic societies across some 49 countries, ensures that only the best compete. Each entrant is granted a single opportunity to perform their meticulously crafted act before a live audience and a discerning judging panel. Routines are rigorously assessed based on Technical Skill/Handling, Showmanship/Presentation, Entertainment Value, Originality, and Magic Atmosphere, with scores awarded out of 100. The competition is structured into five stage-magic categories and three close-up categories.
Since its inception in Lausanne, Switzerland, in 1948, and following the most recent event in Quebec City, Canada, in 2022, the FISM World Championship has become the definitive platform for showcasing cutting-edge magic.
A historical note for magic enthusiasts: The legendary Fred Kaps holds a unique place in FISM history as the only magician to win the Grand Prix an astonishing three times, securing victories in 1950 (Barcelona), 1955 (Amsterdam), and 1961 (Liège).
Magicians and magic aficionados alike are flocking to Turin, anticipating a week filled with breathtaking illusions, mind-bending mentalism, and the discovery of magic’s next big stars.
