Surat Diamond Bourse Set to Surpass Pentagon as World’s Largest Office Complex

In a monumental leap for India’s diamond industry, the Surat Diamond Bourse—located in Surat, Gujarat, nearly 300 km north of Mumbai—is poised to become the world’s largest office building, overtaking the Pentagon in the USA.

Spanning an astounding 659,611 square metres (7.1 million sq. ft) and spread across 35 acres, the state-of-the-art complex will serve as the central hub for the global diamond trade, housing over 65,000 professionals including diamond cutters, polishers, traders, and exporters.

Surat, already renowned for polishing around 90% of the world’s diamonds, further cements its place as the epicentre of the global diamond market with this iconic development. The Bourse, set to officially open later this year, offers cutting-edge infrastructure, security, and commercial space, consolidating various operations under one roof to enhance efficiency and global trade connectivity.

With its sheer scale and purpose-built design, the Surat Diamond Bourse is more than just an architectural marvel—it’s a shining symbol of India’s growing influence in the world economy.
