“Pramukh Swami Maharaj, Visionary Behind World’s Largest Hindu Temple, Passes Away at 95”

His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the revered spiritual leader of the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) and the guiding force behind the construction of the world’s largest Hindu temple, passed away on Saturday at the age of 95.

A spiritual icon known for his humility, devotion, and humanitarian work, Pramukh Swami Maharaj was the visionary behind the majestic BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple in New Delhi, which he consecrated on 6 November 2005.

The temple—measuring 356 ft in length, 316 ft in width, and 141 ft in height—was constructed in just five years by over 11,000 skilled artisans. Remarkably, it was built entirely from intricately carved stone, without the use of structural steel, showcasing a timeless tribute to India’s ancient architectural genius, spiritual heritage, and craftsmanship.

Akshardham stands not only as a religious monument but as a global symbol of peace, culture, and devotion—drawing millions of visitors from across the world.

Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s legacy lives on through his tireless efforts to uplift communities, promote spiritual values, and build institutions that blend tradition with inspiration. His passing marks the end of an era for millions of followers, but his vision continues to inspire future generations.
