In a historic first for the Indian Armed Forces, the first batch of 17 women cadets graduated from the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Pune on Friday. Among them, Division Cadet Captain Shriti Daksh stood out, proudly marching past the ‘Antim Pag’ at the iconic Khetrpal Parade Ground, reflecting on how her father had once passed out from the same squadron.
Daksh earned a silver medal and the prestigious Chief of Air Staff Trophy for securing the first rank in the Bachelor of Arts stream, making her achievement doubly significant.
The convocation ceremony was held for the 148th NDA course, where a total of 339 cadets were conferred with degrees. This graduation not only symbolizes a momentous milestone in the NDA’s history but also underlines the growing role of women in India’s defense services, heralding a future of equality and empowerment.
