The Andhra Pradesh government is gearing up to host a monumental yoga event on June 20th and 21st, aiming to bring together an astounding 2 crore (20 million) participants from across the state. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced the ambitious initiative, which seeks to not only break a world record but also significantly raise awareness about the profound benefits of yoga for health and well-being.
The special two-day event coincides with International Yoga Day and will see simultaneous yoga sessions conducted in all districts of Andhra Pradesh. Visakhapatnam has been designated as the primary venue for the main program. To ensure the seamless execution of such a massive undertaking, government officers, police, and volunteers have been directed to collaborate closely.
Yoga demonstrations are planned to take place at a wide array of locations, including schools, colleges, parks, and various other public spaces, accommodating the anticipated huge turnout. Officials from Guinness World Records will be on-site to meticulously observe and verify whether Andhra Pradesh successfully surpasses the existing record. The current world record for a yoga event stands at approximately 1.3 crore participants, set during a previous event held in India. Andhra Pradesh is now poised to establish a new global benchmark.
Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu emphasized that yoga should transcend a single-day observance and become an integral part of daily life. He highlighted yoga’s potential to combat numerous contemporary health issues and foster peace of mind and body.
This upcoming event is set to be one of the largest yoga gatherings worldwide, with citizens across the state eagerly preparing to participate and potentially be a part of history.
