Jayaprada Ramamurthy has etched her name into history by becoming the first female flute artist to perform various types of flutes on the concert stage in Indian Classical Carnatic Music. Her feat has been officially recognized and recorded by the World Book of Records, London.
Hailing from Andhra Pradesh, Jayaprada showcases her musical prowess by performing with a range of bamboo flutes – including base, top, and medium – as well as the Western key flute for improvisations, a rare blend in the traditional Carnatic format.
Adding to her distinguished career, she has authored the pioneering book “Basics of Flute Playing”, the first of its kind in the field of Carnatic music, contributing to pedagogy and inspiring budding flutists.
Jayaprada has performed extensively across the globe, with solo performances in the USA, Europe, UAE, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and across India. Her musical talent has graced some of the most prestigious stages in the world, entertaining distinguished audiences that have included the President of India, Prime Minister of Nepal, and several Governors and Chief Ministers from various Indian states.
