In a spectacular celebration of culture, unity, and women’s empowerment, over 11,000 girls and women from Dahisara village in Rajkot district etched their names in history by performing the Sheri Garba while balancing traditional pots on their heads — setting a new world record.
The landmark event was organized by the Samast Sakariya Family and Shri Adhya Shakti Dham, under the visionary leadership of Shri Savabhai Lakhabhai Sakariya and Shri Ambabhai Somabhai Sakariya. It took place in the heart of Dahisara, Ta. Jasdan, Rajkot, and drew thousands of enthusiastic spectators and cultural enthusiasts.
The record-breaking performance saw participants gracefully execute 45 minutes of non-stop Sheri Garba, a revered traditional dance form of Gujarat, while balancing ornately decorated pots (matkis) on their heads. The effort was not only a display of discipline and devotion but also a tribute to the spirit of Gujarati folk culture and womanhood.
The grand event was successfully supported and managed by Mavjibhai Popatbhai Sakariya, Raghavbhai Danabhai Sakariya, Rajabhai Bhimabhai Sakariya, Mayurbhai Merabhai Sakariya, Vallabhbhai Merambhai Sakariya, Mansukhbhai Naranbhai Sakariya, and their dedicated team — whose efforts ensured seamless execution and coordination on an extraordinary scale.
“This was not just about setting a record, but about showcasing the strength, grace, and unity of women in our community,” said Shri Savabhai Lakhabhai Sakariya. “We are proud to uphold our cultural heritage and inspire future generations.”
Representatives from various cultural bodies and record-certifying authorities were present to validate the event, which was widely shared and celebrated across social media under hashtags like #SheriGarbaWorldRecord and #DahisaraPride.
This event stands as a glowing example of how grassroots cultural initiatives can bring communities together while honoring heritage, harmony, and the empowerment of women.
