In a remarkable environmental initiative to promote the “Save Tree Mission and Save Environment”, the District Magistrate of Saharanpur, Shri Alok Kumar Pandey (IAS), led an unprecedented tree plantation drive that has set a New World Record for the largest simultaneous tree planting activity in the region.
On 9th August 2019, a massive participation of 15,000 volunteers gathered to plant a staggering 50,000 trees along a 184-kilometer stretch on both sides of the Hindon River Bank. The campaign was carried out concurrently across multiple venues spanning numerous villages, including:
- 30 villages of Tehsil Saharanpur
- 18 villages of Tehsil Deoband
- 15 villages of Tehsil Behat
- 19 villages of Tehsil Rampur Maniharan
The large-scale operation showcased exemplary coordination and community engagement, emphasizing the urgent need for environmental conservation and sustainable development.
Shri Alok Kumar Pandey expressed pride in the overwhelming support from local communities and emphasized that this historic tree plantation effort marks a vital step toward reversing deforestation, enhancing biodiversity, and combating climate change in the region.
This world record drive not only reinforces Saharanpur’s commitment to green initiatives but also serves as an inspiring model for other districts and states across India to unite for a greener, healthier future.
