Massive Oral Health and Anti-Tobacco Campaign Engages 1.25 Lakh School Children in Bihar

The Department of Public Health Dentistry at Sarjug Dental College and Mata R. Devi Dental Hospital organized a large-scale “Oral Health Awareness and Anti-Tobacco Campaign” as part of their Child Development Programme. The one-day event saw the active participation of 200 dentists, trained dental students, and over 125,000 school children from 92 schools across Darbhanga district.

The campaign focused on educating children and communities about the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene, the harmful effects of tobacco use, and preventive measures to combat related health issues. Detailed awareness sessions were conducted to promote oral health maintenance and tobacco cessation.

Leading the initiative was Dr. Amit Kumar (MDS, Department of Public Health Dentistry), serving as the Campaign Leader and Organizing Secretary, with strong support from Campaign Chairman Dr. Nitesh Kamal.

This unprecedented effort marks a significant step towards improving public health awareness in Bihar and encouraging tobacco-free lifestyles among the youth.
