Garvita Gulhati, a college student from Bangalore, has been recognized as India’s Youngest Environmentalist, thanks to her unwavering commitment to sustainability and environmental activism from a remarkably young age.
Garvita’s journey as a change-maker began at just 13 years old, when she launched the #SayNoToCrackers campaign to raise awareness about the harmful impact of firecrackers on the environment. By age 15, she founded “Why Waste?”, an organization that aims to shift public mindset toward natural resources, encouraging people to treat water and other resources with the same respect and care as human life.
Over the years, her influence has only grown stronger. She has founded three more environmental initiatives, all driven by the goal of creating changemakers and addressing diverse ecological challenges. Her leadership has empowered thousands of students and citizens across India to adopt sustainable practices and contribute meaningfully to the planet.
Garvita’s recognition as a youth icon in the environmental movement is not only a reflection of her vision and leadership but also a call to action for the next generation to join the movement for a more sustainable and mindful future.
