Despite societal pressures and stigma, she pursued her passion for medicine and became an Ayurvedic doctor. After undergoing gender affirmation surgery, she returned to her profession as Dr. VS Priya, receiving support from her family, colleagues, and patients .
In the realm of allopathic medicine, Dr. Vibha Usha Radhakrishnan made history as Kerala’s first transgender MBBS doctor. A native of Palakkad, she completed her medical degree at Kozhikode Government Medical College. With the support of her family, she transitioned from Vipin to Vibha during her medical studies. She now practices medicine in a private clinic and aspires to pursue higher education in psychiatry or emergency medicine abroad .
Both Dr. Priya and Dr. Vibha have broken barriers in the medical field, serving as inspirations for the transgender community and advocating for inclusivity in healthcare.
