Buenos Aires, Argentina — Making history on the global stage, Jeremy Lalrinnunga etched his name into the record books by becoming India’s first-ever gold medalist at the Youth Olympic Games in 2018.
Just 15 years old at the time, the weightlifting prodigy from Aizawl, Mizoram, delivered a stellar performance in the men’s 62 kg category, lifting a total of 274 kg (124 kg snatch + 150 kg clean and jerk). His gold-medal feat not only brought immense pride to India but also marked a turning point in the country’s weightlifting journey at international youth competitions.
