Ice cream just got a luxury makeover! A single scoop of frozen delight has officially entered the Guinness World Records as the most expensive ice cream scoop ever sold, commanding an eye-watering price of $6,696 (¥873,400).
Crafted by Japanese luxury brand Cellato, the ice cream—named “Byakuya” (meaning White Night)—is more than just a dessert. It’s an edible work of art, featuring rare white truffles from Alba, Italy, and edible gold flakes, blended with premium sake lees and Parmigiano Reggiano for a uniquely rich and umami-laden flavor.
“It’s not just about extravagance. Each ingredient was chosen for its story, rarity, and cultural depth,” said Takashi Ito, head chef and curator of the flavor profile.
The record-breaking scoop was hand-prepared and served in a handcrafted crystal bowl, accompanied by a golden spoon and a certificate of authenticity.
Guinness adjudicator Naoko Yamazaki, who certified the record, noted:
“This scoop represents the pinnacle of culinary luxury and craftsmanship. It’s an experience, not just a taste.”
Only a limited number of scoops are available by pre-order, and Cellato has already sold out its initial run—proving that for some, indulgence truly knows no price.
The brand also announced that a portion of the proceeds will go toward cultural preservation initiatives in Japan and Italy, blending luxury with a purpose.
So, if you’re craving a dessert that literally costs more than gold—get ready to book a ticket to Tokyo and indulge in the coolest luxury on Earth.
