Dhruv Kumawat, a bright and determined 9-year-old from Udaipur, Rajasthan, has been officially recognized as an ‘IBR Achiever’ by the India Book of Records for an outstanding academic accomplishment in the field of mental arithmetic. At the young age of 9 years and 2 months, Dhruv was honored for receiving 11 prestigious certificates from the UCMAS (Universal Concept of Mental Arithmetic System) competitions held at state, national, and international levels between 2022 and 2024.
Born on January 9, 2016, Dhruv has shown extraordinary skill and focus in mastering abacus-based mental math techniques — a discipline known to sharpen memory, concentration, and analytical ability in children. His consistent participation and success across multiple competitive platforms have made him a standout performer in the UCMAS community.
“Dhruv’s journey is a testament to what dedication, practice, and proper guidance can achieve,” said his proud father, Mr. Nitin Kumawat. “We always knew he had a flair for numbers, but to see him perform complex calculations with such speed and accuracy is truly amazing.”
Dhruv’s achievements include high-ranking performances in both online and offline events, including virtual international competitions where he competed with participants from across the globe. His ability to visualize and compute answers mentally — often faster than a calculator — is a skill nurtured through rigorous training and commitment.
UCMAS India, a pioneer in promoting mental math in young minds, acknowledged Dhruv’s consistent performance and praised his contribution to inspiring other children to explore the fascinating world of mental arithmetic. “Children like Dhruv show us the unlimited potential the human brain holds when nurtured early,” said a spokesperson from UCMAS India.
As the youngest achiever from Udaipur to hold this level of recognition in mental math, Dhruv’s story is now motivating other students and parents in his community to take up similar learning programs. His achievement was officially confirmed on April 7, 2025, and adds yet another feather to the cap of Udaipur’s growing list of young prodigies.
Dhruv plans to continue his journey in math and aims to take on even more challenging platforms in the future. “Math is fun when it’s a game,” he says with a smile, already eyeing his next level of training.
