“10-Year-Old Sets Record for Most Pi Decimal Digits Recited”

Alberto Dávila Aragón, a 10-year-old from Bristol, UK, has set a new Guinness World Record by recalling 280 decimal places of Pi in one minute. His journey began in March 2024 during a school competition where he memorized 150 digits to win the chance to pie his headmaster. Encouraged by this experience, Alberto continued to refine his memory skills, employing rhythms, patterns, and special breathing techniques to enhance his recall speed. The record-setting attempt took place at the Clifton Observatory, overlooking the iconic suspension bridge he crosses daily to school. Despite windy conditions, Alberto successfully achieved his goal, inspiring others to pursue their passions and challenge their memory capabilities.

“In March 2024, my school organized an exciting Pi digits competition with an amazing prize: the chance to pie our Headmaster in the face!

“Determined to win, I went home and committed myself to memorizing as many digits of Pi as I could.

“I emerged as the winner of the competition, having memorized an impressive 150 digits of Pi. The moment finally arrived when I got to pie our Headmaster […]!

“It was an exhilarating experience, and I’m grateful to our Headmaster for creating such a fun and inspiring challenge that motivated me to test my memory skills.”
