In March 2013, Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri, unveiled Outlaw Run, a groundbreaking wooden roller coaster that set multiple world records. Designed by Alan Schilke and manufactured by Rocky Mountain Construction, Outlaw Run was the first wooden coaster to feature multiple inversions, including a double barrel roll and a 153-degree over-banked turn. At its debut, it boasted the world’s steepest drop for a wooden coaster, plunging 162 feet at an 81-degree angle, and reached speeds up to 68 mph, making it one of the fastest wooden coasters globally.
The coaster’s innovative design utilized Rocky Mountain Construction’s Topper Track technology, which incorporates a steel plate atop layered wooden tracks. This approach reduces maintenance and provides a smoother ride experience.
Outlaw Run received widespread acclaim for its thrilling elements and smooth ride. Enthusiasts praised its unique layout and intense inversions, solidifying its status as a must-ride attraction for coaster fans.
