Thirteen-year-old Rituraj Bhowmik from Agartala, Tripura, has achieved a remarkable milestone by entering the India Book of Records for his unique artwork on pistachio shells. A student at Holy Cross School, Rituraj has been passionate about art from a young age. Under the guidance of his art teacher, Jaydeep Bhattacharya, he began experimenting with miniature paintings on pistachio shells during his sixth grade. After two years of dedication, he created 101 animal-themed paintings on these tiny canvases, showcasing his extraordinary patience and precision. This accomplishment has brought immense pride to his family and well-wishers.
Rituraj’s artistic journey includes participation in various national and international competitions, such as Japan’s Picasso Art Contest and ISRO’s drawing competitions, where he has achieved remarkable success. His record-setting feat involved painting 101 creatures—including aquatic animals, terrestrial animals, mammals, insects, and reptiles—on 101 pistachio shells using sketch pens and acrylic paints. This achievement was officially recognized on December 16, 2024, when he was 13 years, 5 months, and 1 day old.
This recognition not only highlights Rituraj’s exceptional talent but also brings honor to his hometown of Agartala and the state of Tripura. His innovative approach to art serves as an inspiration to young artists, demonstrating that creativity can transform even the most unconventional materials into extraordinary works of art.
