Work Started After Bhoomi Pujan
On July 13, at 6 PM, the digging work began with the Bhoomi Pujan, in the presence of priests. According to the plan, digging will continue for 12 hours, and the plantation drive will officially begin at 6 AM on July 14. Necessary equipment, such as cutters and small spades, has been arranged for the large-scale planting.
Kailash Vijayvargiya added, “A large number of volunteers will be stationed to assist the people. 100 cameras will be installed at the plantation site in Revati Range to monitor the process. The Revati Range has been divided into 9 zones and 100 sub-zones. The idea of a world record for 51 lakh and 11 lakh trees was conceived on May 27.”
9 Lakh Madhukamini Plants to Be Planted
He further mentioned, “Thanks to the dedicated efforts of a committed team over 46 days, we have reached this crucial milestone. This is the world’s largest public participation program. In the future, this area will become a major picnic spot for Indore and surrounding regions. Nine lakh Madhukamini plants will be planted here, which will make the atmosphere fragrant with their flowers and fill it with positive energy.”
20 Crore Worth of Trees Donated
He also shared, “The planting of various species of trees here will create a better ecosystem, and the chirping of different birds will attract picnickers. After committing to plant 51 lakh trees, we organized the collection of plants, and trees worth ₹20 crore have been donated to us. These trees have been transported in 300 trucks to the plantation site.”
“To date, 23 to 24 lakh trees have already been planted in the city and surrounding areas. With the current speed and enthusiasm, I can confidently say that we will exceed the 51 lakh target. A nursery will also be set up in the Revati Range with over 1 lakh trees. If any tree becomes damaged or dies, it will be replaced with a new plant. Anyone who notices a damaged plant can also replace it.”

In the press conference, Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava appealed to the residents of Indore to use two-wheelers to reach Revati Range and avoid bringing children, elderly, or differently-abled individuals for safety reasons.
