SVU Sets Wonder Book of Records with 1,250-Strong Kolatam Dance Performance

Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) turned into a vibrant stage of cultural heritage on Sunday as 1,250 artists performed a synchronised Kolatam dance under the direction of Rambabu, SVU employee and convenor of the Sri Annamayya Dance Academy.

The massive performance, held in front of the SVU administrative building and the sacred Sri Gnanaprada Venkateswara Swamy temple, was aimed at entering the Wonder Book of Records—a goal that was successfully achieved.

SVU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ch. Appa Rao, National Sanskrit University Vice-Chancellor Prof. GSR Krishnamurthy, and SVU Registrar Prof. M. Bhupathi Naidu inaugurated the event, praising its celebration of Annamayya’s timeless message of equality through the devotional composition Brahmamokkate Para Brahmamokkate.

Rambabu trained participants from Tirupati and surrounding regions, ensuring flawless coordination for the record attempt. Wonder Book of Records India coordinator Bingi Narendra Goud and AP coordinator Arun Kumar certified the achievement and presented the official certificate to Rambabu.

The event, attended by students, teachers, folk dance artists, and dignitaries, not only marked a milestone in record books but also showcased the unity, vibrancy, and enduring relevance of Indian cultural traditions.
