Indian radio network Big FM has made history by entering the Asia Book of Records for a daring and innovative broadcast titled ‘Live from Sky with RJ Jyonita’.
The record-setting feat took place near Pavana Lake, Kamshet, where RJ Jyonita, the afternoon presenter at Big FM Pune, hosted a one-hour live show while paragliding 2,000 feet above ground and 3,500 feet above sea level.
RJ Jyonita was connected to the studio’s Telcos system via a real-time Vodafone network call, ensuring uninterrupted transmission throughout the flight. Speaking about her unique record, RJ Jyonita said, “I was excited to do this, as no one has ever done this before. I presented the idea to my team, they approved it instantly, and I was thrilled to set this first-of-its-kind record.”
The Asia Book of Records recognised the achievement under the title ‘First RJ Live Show Hosted From The Sky’, noting the exceptional challenge of conducting a radio show in mid-air. “Radio jockeying is mostly done in closed studios with access to tools for smooth communication. While various RJ marathon records exist, hosting a live show from the sky was unique. The attempt had to meet strict criteria: hosting successfully at around 1,000 feet above sea level for one hour without technical interruptions. RJ Jyonita and the Big FM team fulfilled all requirements flawlessly,” the organisation said.
This pioneering stunt not only demonstrates RJ Jyonita’s adventurous spirit but also highlights Big FM’s innovative approach to engaging listeners, setting a new benchmark for radio broadcasting in India and Asia.
