Amroha’s Ram Singh Bouddh sets Guinness World Record for largest radio collection: All you need to know

Ram Singh Bouddh, a 68-year-old resident of Gajraula in Amroha, has fulfilled his dream of being recognized by Guinness World Records for having the largest collection of radios. After a year of communication, the Guinness record keepers confirmed that “the largest collection of radios is 1,257 and was achieved by Ram Singh Bouddh,” officially listing his name on their website.

Although Bouddh owns 1,400 radios, the Guinness guidelines require each item to be unique, leading to the exclusion of duplicates.

The previous record was held by M Prakash, who had a collection of 625 different radios back in July 2005.

Here’s all you need to know about Bouddh’s journey

In April 2023, Bouddh’s passion for radios gained attention through an article in TOI, which eventually led to a mention in Prime Minister Modi’s radio program, ‘Mann Ki Baat.’

Speaking about Bouddh’s dedication, Modi remarked, “One of the achievements of Mann Ki Baat is that it has made radio more popular. I received a letter from Ram Singh Bouddh ji from Amroha on ‘MyGov.’

He has been collecting radios for many decades. He says after Mann Ki Baat, curiosity about his museum increased among the public.” This acknowledgment resulted in Bouddh receiving a special invitation to attend this year’s Republic Day parade in New Delhi.

As Bouddh waits for the official memento from Guinness World Records, his recent achievement has reignited his ambition to establish a radio museum in his hometown.
