“Ronjan Sodhi and Gagan Narang: Historic World Cup Wins and World Records in Shooting”

Two giants of Indian shooting, Ronjan Sodhi and Gagan Narang, carved their names into history with World Cup triumphs and world record performances, setting new benchmarks for the sport in the country.

Ronjan Sodhi, a double trap specialist, made headlines by winning back-to-back gold medals at the ISSF World Cups in 2010 (Lonato) and 2011 (Beijing). His crowning achievement came when he equaled the world record score of 195/200 in 2010 — a performance that not only secured his place in the world’s top shooters but also brought global recognition to Indian shotgun shooting.

Meanwhile, Gagan Narang, the rifle ace, has been one of India’s most decorated shooters. His finest hour came at the 2010 ISSF World Cup Finals in Changwon, where he shot a perfect 600/600 in the 10m Air Rifle qualification round — a world record at the time. Narang also won multiple ISSF World Cup medals, and was instrumental in India’s medal haul at international competitions, including a bronze at the 2012 London Olympics.

Both shooters have played pivotal roles in revolutionizing Indian shooting — mentoring younger talent and helping establish a culture of excellence. Their world records and victories paved the way for India’s current dominance in global shooting competitions.
