In a historic achievement for Indian martial arts, Pooja Kadian clinched the gold medal in the women’s 75 kg Sanda category at the 14th World Wushu Championships, becoming India’s first-ever world champion in the sport
Representing the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Kadian showcased exceptional skill and determination throughout the tournament. She secured a decisive victory against Russia’s Evgeniya Stepanova in the final, following a dominant 2-0 win over Egypt’s Heba Abdelkader in the semifinals.
Prior to this landmark victory, Kadian had earned silver medals at the World Championships in 2013 and 2015, as well as at the 2013 World Games. Her consistent performances have solidified her status as a leading figure in Indian Wushu.
